They spent a day helping in the soup kitchen with the
Missionaries of Charity in Chicago.

Veronica Halbur

For one month last year Veronica volunteered to help out a family from their
parish with two young children, a little boy and a little girl.
She helped them out at their home, free of charge, for a month,
two days a week. Their little boy has Down syndrome. Because of this,
his mom does a special therapy program with him. One day a week,
Veronica helped with his program. On the other day, she played with the
little girl so the mom could work with her son undisturbed.

Veronica learned a lot from working with this family, it was a good “life-skills”
experience for her. She found her project joyfully rewarding.
