Group 1
Presenting a talk on a Saint.

In December 2001, when the group was studying Piety (Forget Me Not) 11 year old Sarah Halbur presented an Acronym on Saint Monica's Life.  The acronym spells out

SAINT MONICA PIETY

St. Monica- By Sarah Halbur

Saint Monica was born in Tagaste,

North Africa in the year 332

After her arranged marriage to the     good hearted but

fiery tempered pagan Patricius, Augustine,

Navigius and Perpetua were born to them

Inspite of all the careful Christian

upbringing from his mother, Monica’s son

Augustine became a pagan at age 17

Nothing had ever grieved Monica as deeply as this

This hardship Monica gave to the

Lord, knowing that only He could

change her son’s mind

Monica’s fervent prayers

converted her husband and Mother in Law

Obeying God’s will in all things

   she remained pious and humble

Never losing her faith in God she

      kept persevering, praying and hoping

In August of 386 Augustine finally was

baptized after years of Monica’s pious prayers

Converting to Christianity only a year

   before Monica’s Holy death

   Augustine later became a priest,

bishop, Saint and Doctor of the Church

August 27 is the day we celebrate

   Monica’s feast day

Saintly piety was something that

Monica surely did not lack in her lifetime

Patroness of Married Women and Mothers

Italy is where Monica died in 387 at the age of 56

Eternally happy St. Monica now is

with her beloved Lord in Heaven

The Church is blessed with a model

of piety for young and old alike

Yearning and working for holiness

all her life Monica truly earned Sainthood
